HOCKEY CANADA AND FASTHOCKEY BRING CANADA’S NATIONAL EVENTS INTO THE HOMES OF HOCKEY FANS

CALGARY, Alta. – This is the next best thing to seeing Hockey Canada’s national events in person.

Hockey Canada has announced a partnership with FASTHockey.com to bring all of Hockey Canada’s national events to hockey fans across Canada and throughout the world. FASTHockey.com will bring live streaming video and archives on-demand of every Hockey Canada event during the 2009-10 season.

Canada The schedule includes the complete National Women’s Team Midget Series (games at Father David Bauer Olympic Arena in Calgary), World Junior A Challenge, National Women’s Under-18 Championship, World Sledge Hockey Challenge, World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, Esso Cup, TELUS Cup, RBC Cup and the National Junior Team selection camp Red-White games.

More than 85 games will be made available through this partnership. The Hockey Canada Cup, which ran from August 31-September 6, was the first event webcast through the Hockey Canada/ FASTHockey.com partnership. The only games that won’t be webcast live at Hockey Canada’s championships will be the gold medal games, as these will be shown on TSN/TSN2 and RDS.

“Hockey fans have told us that they want more and more games available live,” says Scott Smith, chief operating officer of Hockey Canada. “This partnership will offer high-quality webcasts of all of our national championships. Fans will have the chance to watch live games and there will also be an archive system for past events.”

FASTHockey.com utilizes a unique game credit system that offers discounts to users who purchase multiple tokens at once. The cost for individual games and on-demand content will be no more than $7.49 and can be as low as $4.99, depending on the number of tokens purchased. Games can be seen at http://hockeycanada.fasthockey.com.

“Our expertise is in audience development and our users have a thirst for live hockey content,” says Marc Ruskin, president of FASTHockey. “We’re excited that Hockey Canada chose FASTHockey to provide the platform, production and promotion of these national events to an audience that spans the globe.”

The next FASTHockey.com webcast will be on October 13, when Canada’s National Women’s Team takes to the ice against the Calgary Buffaloes Midget AAA boys team. Also on the horizon are webcasts of the National Women’s Under-18 Championship (November 4-8 in Surrey, B.C.) and World Junior A Challenge (November 1-8 in Summerside, P.E.I).
