RETURN FLIGHT INFORMATION ANNOUNCED FOR
TEAM CANADA MEMBERS
Saskatoon, Sask. – Canada has advanced to the gold medal game at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship
following a 6-1 victory over Switzerland on Sunday. Canada will face USA in the gold medal game on Tuesday,
January 5, beginning at 7 p.m. CT.
Taylor Hall (Kingston, Ont./Windsor, OHL) led the offensive charge for Canada, scoring twice, while Jordan
Eberle (Regina, Sask./Regina, WHL) added one of his own, tying Eric Lindros for second on the all-time
Canadian World Junior goal scoring list. Marco Scandella (Montreal, Que./Val-d’Or, QMJHL), Brayden Schenn
(Saskatoon, Sask./Brandon, WHL) and Stefan Della Rovere (Maple, Ont./Barrie, OHL) also scored for Canada, who
led 1-0 after one period and 3-1 after two.
Tuesday’s game will mark the ninth-consecutive year Canada has played for gold at the IIHF World Junior
Championship.
In the second semi-final of the day, USA defeated Sweden 5-2 to advance to the gold medal game.
Switzerland will face Sweden in the bronze medal game on Tuesday, January 5, starting at 3 p.m. (Saskatchewan
Time).
Canada has medaled at eleven straight IIHF World Junior Championships, including gold medal performances
in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, silver medals in 1999, 2002, 2003 and 2004 and bronze medals in 2000 and
2001.
Both the gold and bronze games at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship will be broadcast live on TSN,
RDS and The Fan Radio. Check local listings for broadcast times.
